The director of the NBC, Mr. Charles Ebuebu, said this in Abuja. He was with Dr. Aminu Maida from the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC).
“Under Mr. President’s leadership, we are starting a big journey to make Nigeria better with digital TV,” Ebuebu said.
“You know, we started moving from old TV to digital TV in 2016. But we had a lot of problems, so we stopped for a while. Now, the President is giving us N10 billion from selling old TV signals to help us,” he added.
This money is not just cash; it shows how much President Tinubu wants to help Nigeria grow with new technology. It will help the economy and make Nigerian culture better through the DSO project.
Mr. Ebuebu said the money will help make more TV channels for different people. It will also make sure everyone in Nigeria can watch TV, even in faraway places.
Also, the money will be used for satellites to make sure TV signals reach everywhere in Nigeria. This means even people in remote areas will have TV.
The grant will also help measure how many people watch TV shows, make better content, provide digital TV boxes, and launch the FreeTV APP.
