Police officers in Delta State, Nigeria, have arrested a 50-year-old man for hurting a 4-year-old girl in Ubulu-Uku, Aniocha South area of the State.

Harrison Gwamnishu, who told the police, said the man was arrested on Friday, September 27, 2024.

“Today, we quickly acted on a report that a 50-year-old man hurt a 4-year-old girl.

“First, we took the girl to a Government Hospital where doctors and nurses checked her and confirmed that she was hurt.

“We then left the hospital and arrested the man. We asked the girl to show us who touched her, and she pointed to the man.

“We handed him over to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Ogwashi Uku, where he is now locked up.

The problem started on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, when the girl went to her grandmother’s house as her mother told her.

In a video shared by Gwamnishu, the girl's mother explained, “On Wednesday, I went to church for fasting and prayer.

“I told my daughter, when you come back from school, you will not find me at home. Go to your grandmother’s house.

“After our prayer, I came back home to see if she had returned from school.

“She called me and I asked what happened? I wanted to take my evening bath before washing her up, and she said her private part (bombo) was hurting.

“I asked to see it, and when I looked, I saw some sperm. I asked who did it, and she said it was the man with an injury on his leg.

“I was very hurt, but I didn't want to ask him then. I was cursing him, and the next day I told my mother's brother.

“My mother told me to go to the police station at Ubulu-Uku. I went there, and they told me to go to the hospital for a medical test. The girl said it was him,” the mother said.

Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Edafe Bright, confirmed the situation and that they had arrested the man.

“He will be moved to the State Police headquarters after the division completes their first investigation,” the police spokesperson said.
