The Public Relations officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, declared that the officers responded to a call of anguish on April 22, 2025 at approximately 1 pm

According to Kiyawa, the gang, directed by Baba-Beru, was wielding dangerous weapons and attacked innocent civilians in Gwammaja Quarters in Dala Lga, Kano, when police officers arrived.

He said: “Upon arrival, the police team was attacked by the thugs, which led to a fierce fight. Two officers, CPL Abdullahi Ibrahim and s/c Yahaya Saidu, suffered injuries.

“The main suspect, Baba-Beru, also suffered serious injuries. All parties were transferred to Metala Mohammed Specialist, Kano, where the suspect died while receiving treatment, and the officers were treated and discharged.”

The police command has investigated the incident and intensified efforts to stop the suspect's accomplices.

“We assure the public that we will not leave stone without moving to ensure that justice is served,” said Sp Kiyawa.
