Kwara State Police Command Agents, in a joint operation with local vigilantes and hunters, have neutralized two kidnapping suspects and have arrested key people in a rapid search and rescue operation in the area of the local government of Ifelodun of the State.
During the operation, a kidnapped victim was rescued and a firearm was recovered, according to a statement from the policeman's spokesman, SP Adetoun Ejire-Edeyemi, in Ilorin on Monday.
She said: “On March 1, 2025, at approximately 07:06, the command received an intelligence report on the kidnapping of Sule Saidu, man, from the Ahuro Fulani camp, which occurred on February 28, 2025, approximately at 10:00 p.m., for five armed men.
“A joint security team, including police detectives, hunters and guards, launched a rescue operation. The gang was intercepted along the Babanla/Oreke axis in the area of the local government of Ifelodun, where they involved the agents in a weapons duel. ”
Police spokesman revealed: “An abductor was neutralized, while two others, Ibrahim Shehu, 40, and Mohammad Lawal, 25, were arrested. The remaining two escaped with gunshot wounds.
“Ak-47 rifle and charms were recovered. The injured suspects, who were later arrested, succumbed to their wounds on the way to the hospital. “
The police command chose the courage and the rapid response of its officers, as well as the dedication of local hunters and the group of guards, recognizing their crucial role in the operation. He added that their collective efforts continue to improve security and guarantee the safety of residents.
According to the command, efforts are ongoing to detain the suspects fleeing and recover more firearms.
