The agents of the Edo State Police command arrested a Kelvin Izekor for allegedly killing their 38 -year -old wife identified as Izekor success.
The spokesman for the command, Moses Yamu revealed this in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City on Sunday.
Yamu said the suspect was arrested after being rescued from an angry mafia that wanted to lynch him in the city of Benin.
The arrest of the suspect followed the information received from the members of the public on February 22, 2025 at 10:00 pm
The statement said: “On February 22, 2025 at 10:00 pm, information was received that a Kelvin Izekor of the number 50 of the extension of the superior mission, Benin-City, has killed his wife called Success Izekor , 38 years old, and was about to be lynching by an angry mafia.
“The agents of the Aduwawa division quickly responded to the report and met the lifeless body of the woman lying in the group of their own blood with deep cuts in the head.
“Police agents took serious efforts to pacify the mafia, rescue and stop the suspect for investigation.
“The victim was transferred and transferred to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead.”
The statement said the police commissioner, Betty Enkpen Otimenyin, has denounced recent cases of violent spouses with each other.
The commissioner also assured the public the diligent investigation into the death of the woman, and added that whoever is found guilty would be treated in accordance with the law.
