The State Police Command has arrested eight suspects in relation to the murder of a man with speech problems, Efe Ogbeide, during the Obazagbon community crisis.
Daily Post reports that the Obazagbon community is located in the local government area of the State.
A statement from the Public Relations officer of the Command, Moses Yamu, listed the arrested suspects, including Joshua Edo, 50, the main suspect and the youth president of the community.
Yamu listed others such as Obayuwana Happy, 25; Uhunwangho Everest, 52; Chidera Umeh, 21; Simon Benjamin, 39; Odion Adagbonyin, 43; Kennedy Ohro, 42; and Osayi Adagbonyin, 41.
He said the suspects were arrested by agents of the Divisional Police officer of the Iyekogba Division.
He claimed that the suspects who actively participated in chaos were arrested at different intervals and locations.
Yamu added that the crisis resulted in the murder of some innocent people and the destruction of properties worth millions of Naira.
The declaration read partly:
“After the prolonged crisis in the Obazagbon community about who becomes or remains the president, as well as that of the community's okiaghele, which resulted in the murder of some innocent people and the destruction of properties that are worth millions of Naira, the most recent is the murder of an EFE, a silly and dumb man, which are put a lot to be desired.
“The Divisional Police officer of the IYEKOGBA Division led the Operation and Anti-Kidnapping agents to the area, where the following suspects, Obayuwana Happy, 25; Uhunwangho Everest, 52; Chidera Umeh, 21; Joshua Edo, 50; Simon Benjamin, 39; Odion Adagbonyin, 43; Kennedy Ohro, 42; And Osayi Adagbonyin, 41, who actively participated in chaos, were arrested at different intervals and places, ”he said.
The image manufacturer of the command said that the police commissioner in charge of the State, Betty Enekpen Isakpan, promised that all the guilty found would face the entire anger of the law.
He also reaffirmed the resolution of the command to ensure that the safety of lives and properties remains essential in the state.
Daily Post recalls that the groups under the auspices of the network for the progress of people with visible disabilities and the state civil society organizations Edo, Edosco, had protested on Tuesday, March 5, 2025 against the horrible murder of man with physical challenge.
The groups, led by Barr Omaasah Melody, the executive director of the Network for the progress of people with visible disabilities, denounced the murder of the victim, whom he described as a site engineer.
He said that the victim was deaf and could not hear when the alarm of the invaders rose.
