The Edo State Police Command has arrested four people who are suspected to be part of a cult. They were also found with guns.
SP Chidi Nwabuzor, the police spokesperson, told the news in Benin City. He said that these suspects were caught during a stop-and-search operation by the police.
The names of the arrested people are Isioma Unwogo, who is 21 years old, Godstime Imareigbe, who is 32 years old, Apeleokha Raymond, who is 28 years old, and Mutar Igie, who is 30 years old.
The spokesperson also said they were caught in a place called Ahor, which is along the Benin-Lagos bypass, as well as on the Benin-Auchi Road.
Isioma Unwogo was found with a gun that had been cut to a smaller size and one live bullet. The police from Ahor Police Station caught him while they were on patrol.
The other three suspects were caught when the police stopped a Toyota Camry with the registration number ABC 265 RA. When they checked the car, they found a hidden gun inside the car’s bonnet.
SP Nwabuzor said that the suspects confessed to being members of a secret cult group in the state.
