Landmark Africa Group has partnered with the Enugu State Government to lease the 50-hectare Nike Lake complex for 35 years.

Announcing the partnership, Governor Dr Peter Mbah highlighted the resort's potential as a catalyst for the state's tourism and investment sectors.

The group aims to transform the resort into a world-class tourism and leisure destination, attracting over three million visitors annually and contributing significantly to the economic growth and global appeal of Enugu.

He said: “We see this project as a strategic opportunity to position Enugu as a regional hub for tourism and business.” The governor, however, promised state support to provide the necessary infrastructure.

The collaboration was said to be in line with the governor's vision of sustainable development and improved standards of living for the people of Enugu. “This partnership reflects our commitment to making Enugu a better place for both residents and investors,” Mbah added.

Paul Onwuanibe, CEO of Landmark Africa Group, expressed gratitude for the opportunity and shared the company's plans for the resort. “Our investment in Nike Lake Resort will not only elevate it to international standards but will also create significant employment opportunities for the youth of Enugu and drive economic growth,” Onwuanibe said.

Recall that Tribune Online reported that the federal government ordered the demolition of the beach complex, citing violations of building codes and environmental protection standards in 2022.

Coastal erosion and inappropriate use of ecologically sensitive areas were also highlighted as contributing factors to the decision.
