Peter Obi Urges Political Leaders to Draw Lessons from Kenya’s Experience

Must Read

Peter Obi, who ran for president with the Labour Party in Nigeria’s 2023 election, has a message for other political leaders in Nigeria.

On Sunday, he shared his thoughts on his official X handle about how Kenyan people came together to protest against new tax increases.

He pointed out that Nigerian leaders often spend public money to hire people who say bad things about those who tell the truth about the government.

Obi urged these leaders to stop doing this and instead think about what they can do to help the people who are suffering.

“We Nigerian leaders should learn from what happened recently in Kenya. When Kenyans saw that their government wasn’t making the right sacrifices or using resources well, they spoke up and asked for change,” he said.

“Instead of doing the right thing, we use public money to hire media thugs to insult those who try to tell the truth about us,” he added.

Obi believes that for real change and progress, leaders need to be honest, listen to the people, act responsibly, and put the people’s well-being first before their own or their party’s interests. “If we make these changes and sacrifices, we can create a better Nigeria,” he said.
