Peter Obi Dona N20M to two nursing universities in the Southeast

The presidential candidate of the Labor Party (LP) in the general elections of 2023, Mr. Peter Obi, has donated N20 million to two nursing science universities in IMO and Anambra – Holy Rosary College of Nursing, Ogbe, in Ahiara Catholic Dioces, Mbaise and the Nursing Nursing Nursing Faculty, our Hospital de Hospital de Lourdes, IHIALA.

During his visit to both institutions on Friday, the former governor of the state of Anambra presented a control of N10 million to each university. In the Holy Rosary College of Nursing, he delivered the check to the diocese of the Bishop of Ahiara, most of the Reverend Simeon Nwobi, at the University's construction site. Similarly, in Our Lady of Lourdes, Ihiala, presented the donation to the president of the Government of the Union of Students (SUG), Miss Anigbo Chisom Mary, in the presence of hundreds of excited students.

In his comments, Obi stressed the importance of his donation, emphasizing that medical care and education are critical for the national development and well -being of citizens. Praising the Catholic diocese of Ahiara for embarking on the project of the Faculty of Nursing, described it as a vital contribution to ensure a better future for Nigeria. “My lords, what you are doing is a great service for our country,” Obi said. “This donation is not a favor for you, but a recognition of your efforts in the construction of the nation. I will always support this project because it is about ensuring a better future for our country. “

OBI also said that the Government must prioritize quality education, including rapid payment of teachers' salaries. He emphasized the need for a free and accessible education at primary and secondary level, both in public and private schools. He said he would continue to support nursing universities to ensure that they become centers of excellence in the training of health professionals who will contribute to national development.

Expressing his gratitude, Bishop Nwobi praised Obi for his implacable commitment to build a better Nigeria. “We are deeply grateful for this generous donation,” said the bishop. “You have been doing a lot for our country, and we continue to pray so that the will of God is done in your life.” He also confirmed that the University would officially begin operations next year and invited OBI to attend the opening ceremony.

Speaking aside, the very reverend Fr Okoro revealed that the construction of the university began at the end of 2021 and, in addition to nursing and prying, it would also offer courses in pharmacy, cardiology and laboratory sciences.

In Our Lady of Lourdes, Ihiala, the president of SUG, Miss Anigbo Chisom Mary, speaking on behalf of her classmates, expressed her gratitude to OBI for her unwavering support. “You have always shown us compassion and care,” he said. “You are our model to follow, and we will not disappoint you.”
