The Ebonyi State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) replaced Chief Ali Odefa with Hon. Goodluck Chidiebere Egwu as National Vice President of the South East party.
This is contained in a letter signed by PDP stakeholders in the state and addressed to the party's Acting National Chairman, Alhaji Illiya Damagun, and Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara.
The letter was signed by Onwe S. Onwe, former acting national secretary, Senator Paulinus Igwe Nwagu, 2023 lieutenant governorship candidate, Chief John Igboke, former deputy national youth leader, Chief Paul Okorie, former gubernatorial aspirant who replaced Odefa with Egwu.
Others who signed the letter include Chief Austin Edeze, former gubernatorial aspirant and CEO of the 2023 PDP Governorship Campaign Council, all PDP National Assembly and House of Assembly candidates in the 2023 general elections. , among other high-ranking members of the party.
According to stakeholders in the State, the party based the nomination of Hon Egwu, popularly known as Hulala, on the expulsion of Mr. Ali Odefa for a plethora of anti-party activities.

Recall that a Federal High Court sitting in Abakaliki upheld the initial suspension of Mr Odefa by the PDP Oguduokwor district executive in Onicha LGA.
Following his earlier suspension, the Oguduokwor District Disciplinary Committee, after hearing the allegations leveled against Mr. Odefa, recommended the expulsion of the former zone chairman of the party.
Subsequently, on December 12, 2024, PDP Oguduokwor Ward executives announced the summary expulsion of Mr. Odefa.
However, the letter nominating the Hon. Chidiebere Egwu has been introduced to the Acting National President, National Secretary, BoT Chairman and PDP Chairman's Governors' Forum among others.
