Team Nigeria moved closer to securing its first medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on Saturday night when Chukwuebuka Enekwechi posted a remarkable sixth place in the men's shot put event.

The 31-year-old, reigning African champion, put in a commendable performance, achieving an impressive best of 21.42m to secure sixth place.

Enekwechi’s steady progression in the sport was evident, having risen from 12th place at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games to a personal best result at the Paris Games.

This marks the highest position she has ever achieved, both at the Olympic Games and at the World Championships.

Despite his determination to secure a place on the podium, Enekwechi was unable to achieve that dream.
