Osun State Stops Fake Tax Receipts
Osun State’s tax office caught two people who were making fake tax papers. These papers were supposed to be official but were not real.
The boss of the tax office, Ademola Adewumi, told everyone about these arrests on Sunday in Osogbo.
The tax office told all the people in Osun State to be careful. They should always use the right places to pay their taxes.
Ademola Adewumi explained how they caught the two people. They found them during a big check they were doing all over the state.
“The Osun tax office is working hard to stop people from stealing money from the state. We caught two people for making fake tax papers and giving them to people, who didn’t know they were fake,” he said.
“We will continue to check everywhere. We want everyone to follow the rules when they pay taxes. This will stop anyone from taking money that should go to the state.”
Adewumi said the tax office will not allow anyone to break the tax rules. He also warned people to not make fake tax papers.
“Anyone who tries to cheat will be punished,” he said.
“I tell all honest taxpayers to be watchful. Don’t be scared, but always use the correct places like banks, tax offices, the online platform, or POS marshals. Make sure you get the right receipt for every payment you make.”
“The main goal of our checks is to catch people who try to cheat the state and stop them from harming the government’s work to collect money,” he added.
Adewumi also said the two people they caught are now with the police. The police will ask them more questions and might take them to court.
