Police Catch Two Brothers for Stealing and Lying in Osun

Two brothers named Saliu Yisa and Saliu Qudri have been caught by the police in Osun. They got in trouble for working together to steal things and tricking people to get money and goods.

Who Told the Police?

A police spokesperson named Yemisi Opalola shared this news on Friday in Osogbo. She said the brothers, who are 30 and 19 years old, tricked a businessman who wanted to raise cows.

What Happened?

Yemisi Opalola explained that the older brother, Yisa, used the stolen money to build a house in the Kelebe area of Osogbo.

She said, “On July 19, 2024, a businessman reported to the police that he met Yisa, a Fulani man, in 2020 through another person named Olarewaju Muhammed. They started a cow-raising business together. The businessman gave Yisa 27 cows at first. In 2022, he gave Yisa 10 more cows, making it 37 cows in total.

“He visited the cows every two weeks. Then in March 2024, the businessman gave Yisa 5 more cows and was convinced to buy 13 more cows for the Ileya festival. He paid N2,500,000 for these 13 cows. Yisa showed him the cows on a video call, and the businessman also saw them before paying.

“They marked the cows with special signs, but Yisa secretly removed the signs and gave the cows back to his brother. So, he tricked the businessman and took his money.

Where Did the Cows Go?

“The businessman had given Yisa a total of 54 cows. A month ago, the farm manager noticed something strange about Yisa and decided to visit his house in the Oni-Oba/Kelebe area, Osogbo. He found out that all the cows were gone, and Yisa was missing.

“Yisa’s wives said they didn’t know where he was and that he hadn’t called them. This was all part of Yisa’s plan. He even blocked the businessman’s phone number.

How Did They Get Caught?

“One day, Yisa used his younger brother Qudri’s phone to call the businessman. He lied, saying all 54 cows had died but didn’t show any proof. The police acted quickly, found Yisa and his brother hiding, and arrested them. Yisa admitted to using the stolen money to build his house in Kelebe, Osogbo. The police also found 16 cows with his brother.”

What Happened Next?

The police also found 16 cows as proof that the brothers were lying and stealing.

Opalola said that the brothers will be taken to court after the police finish their investigation.
