Two Caught for Robbery and Cult Activities in Osun State
The Osun State Police Command has shown two men, Olugbode Joshua and Akinleye Ayodeji, who they arrested for armed robbery and belonging to a dangerous group.
At a police event on Wednesday in Osogbo, the police shared that they caught Joshua and Ayodeji in separate parts of the city.
Spokesperson Yemisi Opalola said that 22-year-old Joshua is part of a scary group called Black Axe. This group has been causing trouble in Osogbo and nearby places. They caught Joshua after his gang raided a store in Ita-Olokan, Osogbo, using guns and other weapons.
She explained, “On 29th July, 2024, Joshua, known by the nickname ‘Oole,’ and his gang attacked a store in the Alaagba’s compound area with guns. They hurt the store owner and customers and stole two iPhones.”
“Once the police knew, the Anti-cultism team acted quickly and arrested Joshua on 8th August, 2024.”
She added that Joshua will go to court after the police finish investigating.
Opalola also mentioned that they arrested 25-year-old Ayodeji, who is called Devil. He is also part of the Black Axe group and was caught on Thursday, August 8, 2024.
She said, “On 8th August, 2024, there was a fight between groups at Gbemu Area, Osogbo. The police Anti-cultism team went there fast and caught Ayodeji, known as ‘Devil.’ He and his gang have been scaring people in Egbatedo and other parts of Osogbo. The others ran away when they saw the police.”
The police promised to catch the other gang members and bring them to justice.
Furthermore, the Osun State Police Command told the people in the state to stay alert and report any strange activities to the nearest police station.
