A group of bad people came to the Oreke-Okegbo area in Kwara state and did something very bad on Thursday. One person got hurt and one person died because of this.
These bad people pretended to be soldiers by wearing uniforms, and they came to the village at around 7:00 p.m. They were scary and had guns.
Someone in the community said, “They shot at one person by Awere River. Our leader, Kabiesi Oloreke, tried to call the soldiers at a nearby place called Oro Ago, but he couldn’t reach them.”
Later, Kabiyesi of Oreke, who is Oba Joseph Sunday Afolabi, told everyone that one person got hurt and another person died because of this attack.
“These bad people, even a woman was with them, came from a place nearby. They tried to attack my community. There were some guards watching over some Chinese people, and that’s when the bad people showed their gun,” he said.
“After they hurt people, they got stuck at a river called Awere. The river was full of water, and they couldn’t go across until the next morning. That’s when they were able to go away.
“I don’t think they are farmers, but they spoke a language called Hausa. I think they might be from countries next to us,” he added.
The police spokesperson, DSP Ejire Adeyemi Toun, said that “the police know about what happened. They are looking into it to find out what really happened.
“We have made sure everyone has protection, and we are keeping people safe in Kwara state. We will tell more news as soon as we find out more,” she added.
