Ondo PDP Refutes Claims of Electing New Chairman

Must Read

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State wants to make something clear: They have not chosen a new chairman since their old chairman, Fatai Adams, passed away.

On Monday, the party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Ikantu Peretei, shared this news in a statement from Akure, the state capital.

Right now, the Deputy Chairman, Mr. Tola Alabere, is serving as the Acting Chairman of the party. He took over the role after Fatai Adams died on February 14.

Peretei added that the current leaders of the party will remain in their positions until August 3.

He said, “The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State wants everyone to know that we have not elected a new state chairman to replace the late Chairman, Fatai Adams.

“Our party rules, updated in 2017, clearly state how we should replace our leaders if they pass away or leave for other reasons.

“Specifically, Article 47(6) of our rules is very clear on this matter. So, any messages you see congratulating a ‘new chairman’ are fake, meaningless, and go against our rules. They are just aimed to cause trouble where there is none.”

Peretei warned that these fake congratulatory messages are like a rebellion and are trying to ruin the party’s efforts to support their Governorship Candidate, Mr. Agboola Ajayi, in the election coming up in November.

He also suggested that anyone spreading these messages might have their own reasons for causing confusion.
