Ondo Gubernatorial Election: Division in APC as Factions Endorse SDP’s Akingboye

Must Read

On Sunday, trouble started in the Ondo State political arena. Some groups in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) have chosen to side with the candidate from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Benson Akingboye, over their own party’s candidate, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for the upcoming governor vote on November 16.

The groups, including Ondo Patriots, Ondo APC Solidarity Group, Jagaban Coalition, and APC Youth League, said the way Aiyedatiwa became the APC candidate was wrong. So, they are now supporting Akingboye instead.

In a message shared by Dele Oyewo from Ondo Patriots, he said, “Everyone knows Aiyedatiwa is using others to climb up and does not show gratitude.”

The support groups said what Aiyedatiwa did to become a candidate was not right. They believe this harms the people of Ondo State, making them poorer and struggling harder to live.

The groups warned, “If this situation is not fixed by voters on November 16, people in the state will face tough times in the coming years.”

They exclaimed that, in their view, choosing SDP and its candidate will break down the lies built by APC and PDP, providing a better future for the state.

They said, “The law of Karma shows turning a blind eye to a bad choice like endorsing Aiyedatiwa mocks our election laws calling for fair choices. We, all groups in APC Ondo, led by Dele Oyewo, along with other groups, see him as a wrong choice. So, we don’t support him.”

“Right now, SDP is the most loved party in Ondo State. As the election day nears, SDP and its candidate offer the best way to clear out the untruths from APC and PDP,” they stated confidently.
