The Government of the State of Ogun has prosecuted two people, Abdulazeez Anidugbe and Ibikunle Kazeem, before the Magistrates Court in Isabo for a position of two public assault positions and obstruction of public officials to perform their functions.
The two were processed after an assault on urban planning officers of the Zonal Authority of Ronda, while they were in official service.
Individuals allegedly encouraged a mafia to attack the officers of the OGUN Planning and Development Permits Authority, OGPDPA, since they tried to eliminate an illegal structure erected in the right of passage.
Daily Post reported that a celebrity, Idris Okikiola, also known as portable officers, similarly attacked a few months ago while carrying out their official duties.
His actions were widely condemned, raising concerns about the growing frequency of assaults and the general illegality addressed to government officials.
Reacting to the incident, the interim general manager of the authority, Itunu Jolaoluwa, strongly condemned the law, stating that such behavior contravene section 44 of the regulation of planning and development permits of the state of Ogun, 2022.
Jolaoluwa urged government officials to carry out their legitimate duties without harassment, abuse or assault of the public.
“Any complaint of the public can be sent to the office, instead of abusing or assaulting any personnel,” he said.
