Once upon a time, in a city called Abeokuta in Ogun State, Nigeria, there was a big case going on in court. The court was looking at a disagreement about if Olusola Akinbode should be allowed to run for a local election as part of the APC political party.
Gbenga Akinwande was not happy with how Olusola was picked. Gbenga thought that the way Olusola became the choice for the election was not fair. He believed Olusola did not follow the correct steps or rules to be chosen.
Gbenga took his problem to court. He complained about the APC party and also went against the group in charge of the elections, which is called OGSIEC. These groups were now involved in this big court case.
Gbenga said Olusola didn’t go through the checking process at the APC office in Ayetoro town. He felt that the way Olusola was chosen was not right, not following APC’s rules, or the country’s election laws.
The legal case had a special mark called FHC/AB/CA/144/24. It was in front of a judge named Justice Jordan Adeyemi. Everyone involved in the case, with their lawyers, came to talk about it in court.
The lawyer for the APC and Olusola, Edward Ayo Odugbesan, said that they still had time to answer Gbenga’s complaint. But on the day before Monday, October 28, they already told the court that they think Gbenga shouldn’t be able to start this case as they believe he doesn’t have the right reasons to.
Edward also mentioned that both the APC and the OGSIEC answered back to Gbenga’s complaint. But before the judge can listen to everyone’s side, Gbenga’s lawyer, named John Gbenga Apanishile, needs to reply to some of the papers the other side gave him. Also, not all papers reached everyone on time.
Because of this, Judge Adeyemi decided it was best to wait and talk about the case on November 13. The judge hopes by then everyone will be ready to present their stories in court.
