The people in Idomila community in Ijebu North-East Local Government Area of Ogun State held a protest on Saturday because their main road is very bad.

People from 938 houses complained that the bad road makes their lives very hard.

They carried signs saying things like “Bike man, Motorist are avoiding this road,” and “Gov. Dapo Abiodun, we appeal to you to fix Idomila road.” They said the bad road caused someone to die and hurt others.

The leader of the Idomila Elders Council, Kunle Sanni, said the road connects their community to the Army Barracks of Ilese and asked the government for help.

He said: “Landlords and tenants in Idomila are now sick because of the bad road.

“We want the governor to help us fix this road. They should check their records. In Idomila, we voted a lot for the governor. We have 938 houses and about a million people in this community.

“This road is very important because it connects to the Army Barracks in Ilese. Most of us here are farmers and traders. One of our elderly people died because of this bad road.”

Mrs. Dahunsi Oderinde, a community member, also spoke. She said they voted for the governor and hoped he would fix their problem.

She said the people tried to fix the potholes with bags and broken blocks, but the road is still very bad. This makes it hard to go to the market, school, and other important places.

It was seen that road work from the market, through Dipo Dina Stadium, stopped at the home of the Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.
