NSCDC Apprehends Alleged Transformer Vandals

The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has caught three people who broke and stole transformers and electric cables.

The command’s spokesperson, Buhari Hamisu, shared this news with reporters while showing the suspects in Katsina on Thursday.

He said that on Thursday, July 4, 2024, their office in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) got a written complaint about the vandalisation and theft.

Hamisu explained that “Just after receiving the complaint, a special Anti-vandal team attached to the division started their work and quickly caught two suspects.”

Hamisu said, “Usman Usman, 29 years old, from Unguwan Tofa quarters of Bakori LGA, is the main suspect along with Usman Lawal from Mai Ruwa Road in Funtua LGA of the State.

The main suspect is good at breaking public property and stealing things.

During the investigation, the main suspect said he did the crimes and that he worked with Aliyu Umar, who is currently missing.

According to the NSCDC’s spokesperson, the suspects admitted they damaged a transformer in Bakori LGA.

Hamisu added that Usman Usman also said he sold the stolen items with Usman Lawal to two people named Wanka and Kolom, who are also missing.

The command was able to recover from the suspects a 350mm up-riser transformer cable and a 75mm copper wire.
