The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ekiti State recently showed a man named Samuel Balogun, 23, who is accused of some serious crimes like rape, cyberstalking, conspiracy, and threatening someone’s life.
Mr. Agboola Sunday, the State Commandant, presented four people in total, including Samuel, in Ado Ekiti. Samuel was caught in Omisanjana, a part of the state capital. He allegedly did some bad things, including rape and cyberstalking.
The suspects were shown at the Counter Terrorism Base of the NSCDC, which is along Afao Road in Ado Ekiti.
The Commandant said Samuel might have been using drugs. He supposedly drugged a lady, whose name was not shared, and raped her many times. He even took a short video of her naked without her permission.
Samuel then used the video to scare and control the lady. When she refused to do what he wanted, he shared the video on social media. The NSCDC recorded and downloaded this video as evidence.
Mr. Sunday also talked about other suspects: Ojo Temitope, 39; Alade Haruna, 30; and Abiola Okedele, 31. They were arrested in the Oshodi Community in Ado Ekiti. These men are thought to have returned from Burkina Faso and are suspected of trafficking people from Ado Ekiti to Burkina Faso.
The Commandant explained that these suspects trick people by promising them high-paying jobs in Burkina Faso. They take a lot of money from their victims, but the victims do not realize that they are being taken to another African country instead of getting good jobs.
Various items were found with the suspects, such as a Burkina Faso Army uniform, international passports, bus tickets for travel to Burkina Faso, charms, substances that looked like cannabis, and other strong alcoholic drinks.
Mr. Agboola Sunday said that these suspects will be thoroughly investigated. Some will be handed over to the right agencies for further investigation, while others will be taken to court for prosecution.
The Commandant praised the Counter Terrorism Unit’s work and warned young people, especially ladies, to avoid getting into harmful relationships with people involved in unlawful activities.
