The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has told the Enyimba Football Club they need to pay one million naira as a punishment. This is because the team’s actions could make people think badly of the football games.
During their ninth match against Ikorodu City at the Enyimba Stadium on Sunday, Enyimba did not follow the NPFL rules. This got them into trouble.
The club, also known as the People’s Elephant, said some negative things about the referees on the social media site they use. They wrote these on their X account.
NPFL said what Enyimba wrote wasn’t nice and it could make others see the game in a bad way.
The club was told to stop doing things like this. NPFL advised them to talk about their problems in the right way next time. If they do this again, the punishment will be stricter.
Enyimba can say they don’t agree with this punishment if they want to. They need to let NPFL know within two days after they received the decision.
