Nollywood actress Ayoola Ayolola has been cast in the upcoming political thriller “Killing of a Nation”.
Ayolola, who rose to fame after winning the music reality show Project Fame in 2012, stars alongside notable actors including the film's Aml Ameen (“Rustin”), Jimmy Jean-Louis (“Heroes”) and Aïssa Maïga (“Russian Dolls”).
Most recently, Ayolola gained international attention for his performance in the American Christian series The Chosen, in which he played the friend of the blind man healed by Jesus.
Olatunde (OT) Fagbenle (“The Handmaid's Tale”), an American-born Nigerian, is also part of the cast of “Killing of a Nation.”
Fagbenle, 43, is the son of Tunde Fagbenle, a Nigerian journalist, and Ally Bedford, a Briton.
'Killing of a Nation' is directed by Mexican filmmaker Carlos Bolado and produced by Olga Segura, known for her work on the Amazon series Verónica and films such as “Esperando a los bárbaros.”
Harold Sánchez, a Spanish producer, co-produced the thriller.

Ayolola expressed her gratitude in an Instagram post: “What an honor to be a part of this beautiful project, ‘Killing of a nation’. It is something that will remain forever. Slaughter of a nation
“Killing of a Nation” is a crime thriller that delves into the political unrest and crime in Haiti.
The plot follows Aml Ameen, who plays Anderson Toussaint, an American lobbyist who becomes entangled in Haiti's corrupt and volatile political landscape after gaining access to President Jovenel Moïse's inner circle.
The country's political challenges eventually led to Moïse's assassination, plunging the country deeper into turmoil.
According to Deadline News, filming for this English-language project recently wrapped in Panama.
The release date for the thriller has not yet been announced.
Other cast members include Amaury Nolasco (“Prison Break”), Jairo Ordoñez (“Sound of Freedom”), Grainger Hines (“Dr. Death”) and Grace Van Dien (“Stranger Things”).

Ayolola was born on January 12 in Kano, northern Nigeria. He is the eldest of five children. He studied biochemistry at Covenant University in Ota, Ogun State.
The 37-year-old actor also participated in Nigerian Idol, making it to the final 12 before being eliminated in the first round.

His big breakthrough came when he won the fifth edition of Project Fame West Africa on September 29, 2012. He received a car, a cash prize of 2.5 million naira and a one-year recording contract.
This victory served as a springboard for his career in the entertainment industry.
Ayolola put her music career on hold and turned to acting in 2015.
Despite his musical hiatus, a check by PREMIUM TIMES shows that Ayolola still posts snippets on his Instagram page.
She became a household name with her role as “Mide” in the hit YouTube series “Skinny Girl in Transit.”
The actor’s talent and versatility has seen him appear in a variety of other notable projects including “Isoken,” “The Men’s Club,” “The Set Up,” and “Fifty: The Series.”
