The Nigerian Navy says its units, under the auspices of Operation Delta Sanity, successfully discovered and destroyed 23 illegal refinery sites and recovered a large quantity of stolen crude oil in October.

Adams-Aliu, a commodore, said the team also discovered and destroyed 30 furnaces, 26 warehouses, 77 sacks, 19 pits, 21 wooden boats, four drums and two pumping machines.
According to him, in the course of several operations carried out during the month, large quantities of crude oil and AGO were successfully recovered.
He said the results had contributed to the increase in Nigeria's crude oil production.
According to him, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited recently announced that Nigeria's crude oil production increased to 1.8 mbd in October.
“On October 8, three illegal refineries, 15 furnaces, 12 warehouses, five pits and two wooden boats loaded with about 12,000 liters of stolen crude oil were discovered and destroyed around the Bakana River, Bukuma axis and Ogaji-Ama of Rivers (state ).

“On October 9, a suspect carrying a locally made pistol was arrested with three boxes of ammunition. Furthermore, in the general area of Otuwo and Ogboinbiri of Bayelsa (state), three illegal refineries were discovered, as well as five warehouses, two furnaces, a pit and two wooden boats loaded together with about 900 liters of product suspected of being crude oil. stolen. .
“On October 11, five illegal refineries with four furnaces, three tanks and some sacks loaded with about 4,000 liters of stolen crude oil were discovered around Ugbokodo and Christian village in Warri South Western Local Government Area of Delta State. .

“Furthermore, a market boat loaded with about 2,200 liters of illegally refined Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) in drums and bags was discovered in Idi-Ogba, Ondo State,” he said.
The naval spokesperson stated that several operations and recoveries were carried out throughout the month around the Niger Delta.
