The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) says there will be thunderstorms and rain across the country from Monday to Wednesday.

The states that will see this weather include Kebbi, Katsina, Borno, Bauchi, Taraba, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Benue, Niger, Kogi, Plateau, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Ebonyi, Imo, Abia, Anambra, Oyo, Ogun, Rivers, Delta, Sokoto, Kano, Kaduna, and Zamfara.
Monday’s Weather Prediction
For Monday, NiMet says Kebbi, Katsina, Borno, Bauchi, and Taraba states will have morning thunderstorms. In the afternoon and evening, Zamfara, Taraba, Bauchi, and Kebbi states will also have thunderstorms. Moderate rains are expected in Nasarawa, Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Niger in the morning, and then moderate thunderstorms with light rain in Niger, FCT, Nasarawa, Kogi, and Plateau states in the afternoon and evening.
Tuesday’s Forecast
On Tuesday, NiMet predicts morning thunderstorms for Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara. In the afternoon and evening, Bauchi, Taraba, Zamfara, and Kebbi will have thunderstorms. Moderate rains are expected in Niger and Kwara states in the morning, with thunderstorms and more rain later in Plateau, Nasarawa, Benue, and Kogi. The southern regions will start cloudy and then have intermittent rain in Ebonyi, Abia, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom in the afternoon and evening.
Wednesday’s Weather
For Wednesday, morning thunderstorms will happen in Sokoto, Borno, Katsina, and Kebbi. Later, Taraba, Kano, Kaduna, and Zamfara will also see thunderstorms. The North Central region will start with cloudy weather, changing to thunderstorms and more clouds later. Moderate rain is expected in the afternoon and evening, with strong winds likely before thunderstorms.
Risk of Urban Flooding
NiMet warns that light to moderate rainfall could lead to urban flooding in big cities. Strong winds might come with the rain, especially in areas with thunderstorms such as Adamawa, Borno, Gombe, Bauchi, Yobe, Jigawa, Kano, Katsina, Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kebbi states.
