A lecturer at the Abia State University, Uturu, has officially tied the knot with a female student to whom he proposed in a classroom during the previous Valentine’s Day.
PREMIUM TIMES previously reported the surprising proposal made by the lecturer on 14 February, where he got down on one knee with a ring in hand for his fiancée, identified as Novella Grace, in her classroom.
The lecturer, Wisdom Anucha, teaches in the Department of Sociology at the institution and the lady, an optometry student.
Witnesses to this special moment included both excited students and those capturing the proposal on video.
Some Nigerians criticized the lecturer for choosing to propose in a classroom setting, but the university management and the Academic Staff Union of Universities at the institution defended his actions, stating that no university laws or ethical principles were breached.
Mr Anucha and his wife celebrated their church wedding on 6 April at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in Aba, Abia State’s commercial hub, following which they hosted their reception at Ngwa High School in Aba.
Mr Anucha shared a photo of himself and his wife embracing on his Facebook with the caption, “And it came to pass,” indicating a reference to Biblical creation and companionship.
The traditional marriage ceremony for the couple took place a week prior to their church wedding.
