Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has warned local government council chairmen against sabotaging state government contracts in their domains.
He also warned presidents against diverting funds intended to empower the people.
Mr Nwifuru gave the warning on Sunday in Abakaliki during a church service at the Government House Chapel.
He said those who sabotage government contracts in his domains should stop immediately.
The governor asked municipal unions and others involved in the community development process to monitor work in their areas to ensure it aligns with government specifications.
“If you are a coordinator or chairman of a local government and you live in Abakaliki and you hardly ever go to the village, do not expect people to follow you.
“You must work for the good of the people. Our young people need your attention.

“Therefore, as a coordinator, you must execute projects of not less than N10 million monthly and the presidents must execute projects of not less than N20 million every month,” he said.
Governor Nwifuru has commended the Ebonyi youths for not joining the recent nationwide protest against economic hardship.

“They didn’t protest that we are perfect. They encouraged us to do more. It is a challenge for us as government officials to ensure that we do more.
The governor asked young people to protect public facilities in their areas.
