13 people have died and many others got hurt in attacks by bandits in Bassa and Anguwan Magiro villages in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger State.

This news came from a statement by Habibu Wushishi, the Director of Media and Strategy for the Niger State Ministry for Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management. The statement was shared with DAILY POST in Minna.

In the statement, it was said that the bandits did a lot of damage in Bassa and Anguwan Magiro villages. They destroyed shops and the whole farming villages were left in a mess.

“More than 12 nearby villages are now staying at the Erena IDPs camp, but their exact number is not known yet,” the statement said.

Wushishi mentioned that no one was kidnapped in the attack.

“The Commissioner and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Disaster Management send their deep condolences to the victims’ families, Shiroro Local Government, and everyone in Niger State,” the statement added.

DAILY POST also reported that hundreds of villagers from Allawa and nearby places in Shiroro LGA left their homes on April 25, 2024.

The attack happened after the soldiers who used to protect the community were moved away. This made the area more dangerous.
