The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has found and taken 60 big bags of strong weed called Ghanaian Loud in Lagos. These bags weighed 2,400 kg!
Buba Marwa, the NDLEA boss, shared this news while giving medals and new ranks to eight Marine Command officers in Abuja.
The brave and skillful officers honored were Dick Aaron Dick, Alabi Mayowa, Gabriel Ubokikwan, Aso Daniel John, Abdul Emmanuel Sule, Ngabolo Victor Sonpano, and Jonah Emmanuel Sule.
General Marwa praised these officers for their great work. He said this win shows the NDLEA is serious about stopping drug trafficking.
He also said the special promotions and medals are proof of the officers’ hard work and courage, even when things got tough while stopping drugs from coming from Ghana to Nigeria via Lagos’s waterways.
Marwa explained that the Special Marine Squad got important information early in the morning at 3 am on August 23. They rushed to action and stopped a boat at Alfa Beach, Lekki, Lagos. They even saw another boat around.
“They faced some trouble while trying to stop the second boat, but even though it was hard and dangerous, our officers didn’t give up. They kept their eyes on the goal and collected the drugs,” Marwa said. “They captured 60 bags of Ghanaian Loud, a strong type of weed, weighing 2,400 kg. They also caught a suspect from Ghana and took the boat, which had three strong engines.”
Marwa praised the NDLEA’s recent efforts to give the Marine Command better tools and training, thanks to support from the UK Home Office International Operations.
He said this successful mission shows the agency is ready to work with other security agencies and important partners to fight drug trafficking.
Marwa told the officers to keep up the good work, protect the agency’s good name, and think carefully about what they do, whether they are working or not.
He reminded them to stay alert since there is still a lot to do, and the job can be risky. He also stressed the need to follow the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure success without any problems or injuries.
