NDLEA Kaduna Confiscates Over 1,045kg of Illegal Drugs and Arrests 420 Suspects in Third Quarter of 2024

Must Read

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kaduna has shared some big news. They caught over 1,040 kilograms of illegal drugs and arrested 420 people from July to September this year.

Mr. Samaila Danmalam, who is the NDLEA boss in Kaduna, told everyone about this in a statement.

He said, “We caught 420 people, which includes 404 men and 16 women. These people were trying to sell or use drugs, or they were moving them from one place to another.”

The police took away many kinds of drugs like Cocaine, Cannabis, Rohypnol, Tramadol, Methamphetamine, and some other bad drugs.

Besides the drugs, the agency also found 1,393 bullets and four handmade guns. This was all part of fighting against big drug crimes in the area.

Investigations Are Happening

For the people they caught, Mr. Danmalam shared that 30 were found guilty in court, and 54 others are still having their cases checked out. He said, “We got 30 people in trouble for drugs and are checking details for 54 more.”

NDLEA is not just fighting drugs with force. Mr. Danmalam said they had programs to teach people why not to use drugs.

“We helped 50 people who used drugs with advice, and 50 more needed special help to stop using drugs and joined society again,” he explained. These are steps NDLEA is taking to stop drug problems in smart ways, not just by punishing people.

The NDLEA is working hard to stop illegal drugs in Kaduna. Commander Danmalam says they need the help of the community. He wants people to share any important information to help them fight drugs.

Things You Should Know

The Federal Government gave $1.442 million to help the NDLEA fight against drugs, giving money for more tools like weapons. They also provided N1.9 billion to buy 33 vehicles that use CNG fuel to help the agency move around better, and N985 million to get full-body scanners at the airports in Lagos and Abuja.

In more news, the NDLEA also caught a Lagos auto parts seller named Ejiofor Chiwuzie. He tried to hide heroin and cannabis inside LED lamps and sofa legs through the airport in Lagos.

According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, they found 37 packets of heroin weighing 1.10kg and four blocks of cannabis weighing 1.20kg.
