NDDC Refutes Claims of Funding Edo Governor’s APC Campaign

Must Read

The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has denied claims that it diverted money to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial candidate in Edo State.

Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama, the NDDC Director of Corporate Affairs, spoke to news reporters in Port Harcourt on Monday. She said that these claims are lies made up by troublemakers.

“NDDC knows about online reports saying it is using contractors’ money to fund the APC’s campaign in Edo.

“We have to answer this fake story about imaginary diversion of NDDC funds, which comes from an unknown source,” she said.

Thompson-Wakama explained that NDDC does not give money to political parties or candidates at any level of government. She said the agency’s only goal is to speed up development in the Niger Delta.

“The NDDC board and management are now more focused than ever on making a positive impact on the lives of people in the Niger Delta.

“We ask the public to ignore the false reports from those trying to undermine the commission’s efforts,” she added.

The NDDC spokesperson said that the NDDC is accountable and operates with more transparency. They recently hired KPMG to improve its governance and internal processes.

She explained that this partnership aims to build a culture of ethics and good corporate governance within the Commission.

“We are committed to working with stakeholders to support President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and to fulfill our mission in the Niger Delta.

“NDDC is also working with state governments and development partners in the region to create a stable, prosperous, environmentally healthy, and peaceful area,” Thompson-Wakama concluded.
