Health Update in Anambra State

The Health Commissioner of Anambra State, Dr. Afam Obidike, has assured that there are no confirmed cases of M-Pox in the state.

On Tuesday, Dr. Obidike spoke in Awka and mentioned that emergency teams are now active in all 21 Local Government Areas. This is to be ready in case of any health emergency.

He explained that the state is being extra careful because there are cases of M-Pox in nearby states like Ebonyi, Abia, and Delta.

Dr. Obidike shared that there were 16 suspected cases in Anambra, but all tests came back negative. This means no one has been found with M-Pox in Anambra so far.

Since Gov. Chukwuma Soludo started his work, they have set up emergency response teams. These teams help find health problems early and take action quickly.

Dr. Obidike talked about other steps taken to watch out for diseases. They have health workers in all 326 wards of the state. These workers are ready to find and report any health problems immediately. The government is always trying to get better at this.

The commissioner also mentioned that both public and private hospitals have been told to set up special areas to isolate, or keep separate, any suspected M-Pox cases.

The health ministry has started to educate the public about M-Pox. They are teaching people about how to prevent it, what symptoms to look for, and what to do if they think they or someone else might have it.

Dr. Obidike advised everyone to practice good personal hygiene, like washing hands regularly, and to report any suspected cases quickly. He also urged healthcare workers to be very careful when treating patients to avoid spreading the disease.
