Over 1.3 million students are taking part in the 2024 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) run by the National Examinations Council (NECO).

NECO’s head, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, mentioned this on Wednesday while checking the exams in Enugu, Enugu State.

Prof. Wushishi was happy with how the exams were going in Enugu. He said that reports from all over the country show that everything is running smoothly.

He believes this success is because of the new steps taken to make sure everything goes well.

Because of these new steps, cheating during exams is becoming less common, he said.

He encouraged students to study hard to get good grades, reminding them that “there is no shortcut to success.”

Since the exams started, Prof. Wushishi has visited Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Abia, Imo, and Anambra States to see for himself how the exams are being conducted.

He said that in all the places he visited, important figures praised NECO for the good measures taken which made the exams run smoothly.

He also revealed that the exams are being held in Togo, Benin Republic, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, Cote d’Ivoire, and Saudi Arabia.

Prof. Wushishi said that having NECO exams in other countries shows that NECO certificates are trusted around the world.

The 2024 NECO SSCE started on June 19 and will end on July 25, 2024.

Students will be tested in 76 subjects.
