Ministry of Works wants NASS to approve N2 billion for SSA transportation in 2025

The transportation of Senior Special Advisers and Assistants in the Federal Ministry of Works has been proposed for fiscal year 2025 and is awaiting approval by the National Assembly, with a sum of N2 billion.

This was part of the document presented to the National Assembly by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2025 budget, titled “Restoration: Ensuring Peace, Rebuilding Prosperity.”

The Minister of Works has proposed N2 billion for the purchase of new vehicles for the minister's assistants to facilitate their movements while executing their duties.

The ministry's budget for 2025 includes a proposal of N2,475,000,000 (two billion four hundred and seventy-five million naira) for what is called “procurement of motor vehicles.”

Reviewing the 2025 budget document in the Ministry of Works proposal to the National Assembly, Nigerian Tribune can authoritatively report that as part of the Renewed Hope agenda, the sum of N2 billion (only two billion naira) for transportation expenses for Senior Special Advisers to the ministry.

Another vehicle-related project in the proposed FY2025 expenditure is included under the heading “ERGP 12232037” for “Provision of Operational/Security Vehicles for N120,000,000” (One Hundred and Twenty Million Naira Only).

The budget proposal, which was prepared with a budget of N15 million as allocated in the current 2024 budget, has seen the same line item increase in the 2025 proposal, with N50 million proposed for the code line item 2021014.

In its determination to make visible to the Nigerian public the various projects being implemented under the Renewed Hope agenda, the ministry has proposed the sum of N42.6 million for approval by the National Assembly.

This amount is reflected as “Ongoing Federal Government Road Construction Media/Visibility Programme: 42,670,000 Naira (Forty-Two Million Six Hundred and Seventy Thousand Naira Only).”

As part of the measures to ensure the availability of water at the Mabushi headquarters of the Ministry of Works, the sum of N10,000,000 was proposed for a new project in the document before the National Assembly.

The proposal, under the Economic Recovery Growth Program (ERGP), reads: “ERGP, 12232042, Rehabilitation of wells and tanks in the Minister's Block.”

It is listed as one of more than 900 “new” projects captured in the budget document.
