Medical and Dental Consultants Announce 21-Day Strike Notice, Condemn Discrimination

Must Read

The big group of doctors in Nigeria, called the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN), is upset and has given a warning. They said they will stop working in 21 days if their problems are not fixed.

MDCAN is saying that if their requests are not met, they might stop their doctors from continuing work. These doctors have important medical and dental training, and they work all around Nigeria.

They told people in a place called Jos, where many of them met online, that they have a lot of issues that need solving. This message was sent by their leaders, a president named Prof. Aminu Mohammad and a secretary named Prof. Daiyabu Ibrahim.

The group wants to make sure their doctors are treated fairly. They don’t want to see any unfair actions against them, like leaving them out of important job opportunities just because they don’t have a specific degree.

They said, “We won’t accept any unfair treatment based on the qualifications of our medical and dental doctors anymore.”

They also said universities shouldn’t say you need a PhD to become a Vice Chancellor and ignore the special medical and dental qualifications that are just as good or even better for the job.

MDCAN is also asking the government not to make their doctors retire too early. They think doctors should work until they are 70 years old because there are many people who need their help in hospitals and schools.

These doctors are important because they teach others in universities and help sick people in big hospitals in Nigeria.

Their last request is about money. MDCAN wants the government to make sure doctors are paid the right amount as promised under a special pay system.

They are also happy with some steps taken yet to fix job ads that hurt doctors’ chances of getting big jobs, making sure doctors can help run universities better.
