A court in Kano, Nigeria has decided that a 33-year-old man named Nasiru Isa must go to prison for seven years. This is because he did something very wrong to an 11-year-old girl.
The judge in charge, Justice S. M. Shu’aibu, said that Nasiru Isa from Darmanawa Bayan Gidan Kallo area is guilty of hurting the girl. The judge made this decision after Nasiru said he did it.
The lawyer, Abdullahi Babale, showed everyone that Nasiru was the one who did this bad thing. Because of this, the judge told Nasiru he has to stay in prison for seven years and he cannot pay money to avoid this.
Also, Nasiru must give the girl’s family an extra 1 million Naira as a way to say he is sorry.
This all started when a group called NAPTIP, which tries to stop bad things from happening to people, said Nasiru did this in Darmanawa Quarters on October 5. Nasiru made friends with the little girl who lived next to him and took her to his wife’s room and other places where he hurt her.
The lawyer said Nasiru gave the girl food like bread and peanuts and some money just before he did the bad things. He hurt her three times, once in his wife’s room and two more times in a place that was still being built.
To prove Nasiru did these things, the court saw some evidence like a piece of paper where Nasiru said he did it and what the little girl told them happened.
The lawyer said what Nasiru did is not okay according to the law called the Trafficking in Persons Act of 2015. This law says people who do bad things to others will be punished, and now Nasiru has to face the consequences.
