A court in Kafanchan, Kaduna State has put a 38-year-old farmer named Timothy Sunday in a correctional facility for allegedly hurting an eight-year-old girl.
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp, NSCDC, said Sunday committed a crime called rape, which goes against section 257 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law.
The judge, Michael Bawa, couldn’t take Sunday’s plea because the court doesn’t have the power to handle this matter.
Judge Bawa told the prosecutor to send copies of the case to the State Director of Public Prosecution to get legal advice.
The judge said the case would be talked about again on September 26.
Before this, NSCDC’s prosecutor, Mr. Marcus Audu, shared that a woman named Judith Jonathan reported the issue to their office in Kafanchan on August 8.
Mr. Audu said that Sunday tricked the woman’s daughter into his room and hurt her.
The little girl was then taken to the Salama Sexual Assault Referral Centre in Kafanchan for a health check-up.
