On Wednesday, the police brought a man named Kolawole Lamidi, who is 47 years old, to court. This court is called the Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court and it’s in Ibadan. They said he was caught with a big old gun called a Dane gun.
Kolawole, who didn’t share where he lives, was told he was in trouble for having this big old gun. But he said he didn’t do anything wrong.
The police officer, named ASP Foluke Adedosu, explained to the court what happened. She said Kolawole had this gun on July 5 at about 7:30 in the evening. This happened in a place called Agbada village, which is in Ibadan.
ASP Foluke said that Kolawole had the big old gun out in public and it made three people, including someone named Abiodun Olasunkanmi, very scared.
She also said that what Kolawole did was against the law, specifically Section 417(d) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, which was made in the year 2000.
The judge, Mrs M. Olagbenro, said that Kolawole could go home if he pays a bail amount of N200,000 and finds two trustworthy people to promise the same amount. This is what we call “bail”.
She also said that they will talk about this again in court on August 1.
