A man identified as Okandeji has reportedly led suspected thugs to beat to death his twenty-year-old daughter's boyfriend, Ikolo Ochuko.
The incident occurred on December 12 in Ugboroke community, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.
The victim, who was beaten into a stupor, suffered serious injuries and died on December 20, Newslodge reports.
It was learned that the girl's father, Okandeji, had warned the deceased, a thirty-five-year-old man, to leave his daughter alone and that he did not want a barber as a father-in-law.
It was also learned that the deceased had abandoned the girl following a series of threats from her father and advice from friends before he was allegedly attacked, beaten and injured in his barber shop.
He was rushed to the hospital, where a doctor confirmed his death on December 20.
When news of the death leaked into the city, some of the alleged hoodlums fled the community while the police arrested the said Okandeji.
The Public Relations Officer of Delta State Police, SP Bright Edafe, in a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Tuesday, December 31, said: “I am not yet aware until they report the matter to the Command.”
