The Labour Party (LP) has told Callistus Okafor, who says he’s the boss of the party, to stop or he might end up in jail. This warning came from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, in Abuja on Friday.
Earlier, Callistus Okafor had a meeting where he said he was at the Labour Party’s 2014 National Convention and decided to call himself the National Chairman of the party.
Obiora Ifoh said: “This is happening after a Federal High Court in Abuja recently confirmed that the Nnewi Convention chose a new group of leaders for the Labour Party. Barrister Julius Abure was made the National Chairman.”
“We want everyone to know that Callistus Okafor is like someone putting on a show, trying to entertain everyone,” Ifoh added.
“We don’t understand why Okafor is doing this, especially after the party has held two successful National Conventions and moved forward without him.”
People might remember that in 2021, Okafor also called himself the National Chairman of the party. He went to court but lost in both the High Court and the Appeal Court.
“The Court of Appeal clearly said that Okafor can’t use the Consent Judgement to make himself the boss of the Labour Party,” Ifoh said. “The court even scolded him and made him pay a lot of money, which he still hasn’t paid.”
“We are shocked that Okafor is doing this again, ignoring the Court of Appeal’s decision.”
