Akwa Ibom State Governor Praises Peaceful PDP Ward Congress

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, thanked PDP members in the state for holding a peaceful and successful ward congress on Saturday, July 27.

Speaking at his ward in Ibiakpan Obotim Ward 2, in Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, the governor said he was happy to see many members attend and behave well. He said this shows everyone is working together to win the council elections in October.

He said, “The reports we got across the state showed the congress went well. Everyone followed the rules. We had party representatives from Abuja, independent observers, and INEC around to check. It was a very peaceful congress, and we trust God it will stay that way.”

The State Chairman of the PDP, Elder Aniekan Akpan, agreed. He said the returning officers from different wards reported a smooth process, showing the party is ready to win local government elections.

Talking to a large crowd of PDP members in Oron, the state deputy governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, praised the party for making everyone feel included, which was clear during the congress.

The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Udeme Otong, said the PDP Congress showed that Akwa Ibom is still very supportive of the PDP. He is confident that the party will continue to win elections easily.

In Ubium North Ward 3, the political leader of Uyo Senatorial District, Senator Effiong Bob, asked the new leaders to always think of the party first in their actions. He called for unity and support to help the party grow.

Reacting to the outcome of the ward congress, Barrister Hassan Yakubu, a PDP representative at the national level who came to watch, spoke about how good and fair the congress was. He also praised the peaceful manner in which it was conducted.

Members of the Electoral Panel from the National Headquarters who saw the congress in Nsit Ubium included Chairman, Barrister Yakubu Hassan; Secretary, Pastor (Mrs) Bisi Odunsi; Member, Barrister Karen Njoku; Member, Mr. Chinedum Ikogwe; Electoral Assistant, Bayo Ogunlowo; and Electoral Assistant, Alfred Vasco Dauda.
