The Nigerian movie, Lakatabu, has made a lot of money very quickly. In just under four weeks, it earned about N126.4 million in cinemas across Nigeria. This shows that people really like local Nigerian movies.

Filmoneng, a big movie distribution company in West Africa, shared this exciting news. They are known for other hit movies like ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ and ‘Omoghetto The Saga’.

The company also said that Lakatabu, which first showed in cinemas on June 21, 2024, is one of the most successful Nollywood movies this year.

Lakatabu stars Odunlade Adekola, who is a very famous actor in Nigeria. Many people went to see the movie because he is in it.

Data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN) showed that Lakatabu was the top-earning Nollywood movie from June 21 to June 27, 2024. It made almost N65 million during that time.

The movie’s strong performance was highlighted by Newslodge, which reported that Lakatabu earned N47 million in its opening weekend, with over 11,000 people buying tickets to watch it. This was the third-best opening of 2024. Last week, its total earnings were around N94 million.

Odunlade Adekola’s role in Lakatabu follows other big roles he played this year. He was also in a movie called Ajakaju (Beast of Two Worlds), produced by Nollywood actress Eniola Ajao. This movie made N100 million in just five days and eventually earned N250 million.
