A 45-year-old man named Aramide Tito went to court on Monday in Badagry. He was accused of not giving food and hurting his 11-year-old stepson.
We don’t know where Aramide lives, but he is charged with doing bad things to a child, hurting him, and trying to kill him.
Aramide said he didn’t do it.
The policeman, Mr. Clément Okuoimose, told the court that Aramide did this on August 17 at around 11:00 p.m. in Oke Ogbe Area, Atura, Badagry, Lagos.
Mr. Okuoimose said Aramide did not give his stepson any food for three days and hit him.
“Aramide also poured hot water on the boy while he was sleeping,” he said.
“He tried to kill the boy while he was sleeping.”
Mr. Okuoimose said these actions are against the law based on Sections 135, 245, and 230 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos state, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr. A J Aina, said Aramide could pay N100,000 to be free until the next court day. He also needs two people who have jobs to promise that Aramide will come to court.
Mr. Aina moved the court meeting to September 25 for more talking.
