The Lagos State Government has shut down Cravings & More, a fast food restaurant on Egbeda-Idimu road. They did this because the restaurant was dumping waste into public drains, after many people complained.
The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) closed the restaurant after finding out they were throwing fats and oils into the drainage system. This blocked the drains and caused a lot of maggots and flies to show up, making the area smell bad and unsafe for the community.
This bad habit led to clogged drains, more maggots and houseflies, and bad smells, making people in the area uncomfortable and unhealthy.
Tokunbo Wahab, the Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, shared this news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday.
“Today, Monday, 16th September 2024, the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (@lswmomedia) has closed Cravings & More, a fast food place on Egbeda-Idimu road, after a public complaint. They were dumping fats and oil into the public drains from their kitchen,” Wahab posted.
“This bad practice made the drains clog up, causing a lot of maggots and flies and bad smells, making the area uncomfortable and unhealthy,” Wahab’s tweet continued.
This shows how serious the Lagos State Government is about keeping the area clean and healthy.
