The state vice governor of Lagos, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, on Sunday ordered the parents and the religious leaders who address the presumed problems of contemporary problems to promote the well -being of humanity.
The vice governor made the call in the twentieth edition of the late judge Muri Okunola Memorial Ramadan Ramadan, held in the Marquesina Radio Lagos/Eko FM, emphasizing the crucial role played by family and faith communities in the configuration of people's values and behaviors.
This was when he lamented that many parents had fallen short in their raising responsibilities, neglecting morality and values in their children, a development that, he said, had caused these children to deviate from the essential moral values and principles for a harmonious society.
According to him, parents are now raising children who are less prepared to handle real life challenges, emphasizing that many parents are not instilling essential skills and values in their children, leaving them not equipped to navigate the complexities of adulthood.
Hamzat said that, according to this sad development, religious leaders must now ensure that sermons in mosques and churches evolve to address the question: “How do we begin to reorient ourselves to improve our society?”
“Now we are raising children who are not ready for life.
“Our sermons must now evolve in the mosques and churches. The problem now is how we begin to reorient ourselves to improve our society. As we all know, the corporate world has changed the DNA of our women to what they are not. In our sermons as Muslims, let's deal with those contemporary problems, offering them solutions; If not, humanity can be in a big problem, ”warned the vice governor.
“My warning for us as parents and religious leaders is to analyze the problems that affect our society and family unity,” he said.
The main magnet of the Adangbba Central Mosque, Ejigbo, the state of Lagos, the IMAM Abdulrahman Sulaiman Adangba, in its conference entitled “The anguish in family values and morality in our society: a multidimensional approach,” he urged the Nigerians, especially to Muslims, embrace the truth, the right management and the dependence of Allah as virtues that can Change society for the best. He added that parents should strive to create an environment where there is peace and truthfulness.
The professor also declared that when there is external peace in society, morality within society changes for the better. He urged the Nigerians to adopt values that teach a positive change and pass these values to future generations.
