A 63 -year -old tank manufacturer, Ganiyu Folorrusho Yinusa, was sent in prison after allegedly defrauding the managing director of F&I Oil and Gas Limited, Mr. Obilo Canice, from N9.3 million under false claims.
Yinusa was arrested by operations of the command of zone 2, Lagos, after allegedly collecting the payment to build an underground gas tank but not fulfill the contract. After receiving the money, according to the reports, he disappeared, he turned off his phones and cut all the communication with Canice.
After more than a year without any progress in the project, the frustrated oil executive requested the Police Inspector (AIG) assistant in charge of zone 2, Adegoke Fayoade. This led to an investigation headed by ASP Francis Achua, which resulted in Yinusa's arrest.
He was subsequently prosecuted before the Igbosere magistrates, sitting in Tinubu, where he faced charges of obtaining money under false claims and robbery. The fiscal lawyer DSP Francis Igbinosa told the court that the alleged crime occurred on November 28, 2023, in Ag Palace Way, Okota, Lagos.
According to Igbinosa, Yinusa's shares violated sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of the State of Lagos, 2015. The defendant declared himself innocent, and the chief magistrate Oo Olatunji granted bail to N2 million with two guarantees in the same sum.
However, Yinusa was referred to the Ikoyi Correctional Center waiting for compliance with its bail conditions. The case has been postponed until April 3, 2025, for more procedures.
