The group called INEC, which makes sure elections run smoothly in the country, has listened to what the court told them to do. They now recognize Julius Abure as the leader of the Labour Party.
INEC wrote a letter to Julius Abure and a man named Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim, who helps with important jobs at INEC. The letter invited the Labour Party to join a big meeting with other political groups.
Some time ago, a big court in Abuja said that a meeting, called a convention, that the Labour Party had in March 2024 was done the right way. The court said it followed all the rules important in Nigeria.
The judge, Justice Emeka Nwite, told INEC that they must respect the leaders of the Labour Party, with Julius Abure as the head. This means giving them the rights and respect they deserve.
After meeting INEC, Umar Farouk Ibrahim, a key person in the Labour Party, talked to news reporters. He said it was not fair that the party was left out of past meetings, but now he is happy because INEC decided to follow the court’s ruling. The party is back with the other 18 political groups.
He also talked about being ready for upcoming political events like the election in Anambra. This was informed by the leader of INEC, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
Umar said, “Now that we know who leads, let’s all support Julius Abure. What happened was like a family argument, and we will work together to make our party strong again. If anyone is upset or confused, we will work to make them happy.
“The Labour Party will become even better. We need everyone’s help to rebuild. No one wins or loses; we all win if we work together. The party is very important, and everyone should help us reach our goals.”
