Senator Athan Achonu is a big leader in the Labour Party in Imo State. He wants everyone to know that Mr. Callistus Ihejiagwa is still the boss of their group in Imo State. Some people said he was not the boss anymore, but this is not true.
Senator Achonu explained that there hasn’t been a special meeting called a “congress” in Imo State. This kind of meeting is the only way to change who is in charge. So, for now, Mr. Callistus keeps his job as the leader.
Mr. Chime Nzeribe, the head of the campaign for Senator Achonu, wrote down all these details. He said it’s important to clear up the confusion after a big meeting happened in a different place called Umuahia, in Abia State.
He shared that the main boss of the whole Labour Party, Mr. Julius Abure, is having some problems he needs to solve. Despite this, everyone is working toward an agreement. The goal is to make the party strong and keep it together.
In a message, the Achonu team clearly said, “Some people are telling stories that just aren’t true. They’re saying Mr. Callistus isn’t the leader anymore after the meeting took place. But, this is wrong. When Senator Achonu went to the meeting, nobody talked about changing who leads the team.”
He emphasized, “We need a big meeting first before any changes. Until then, Mr. Callistus is the leader in Imo.”
Senator Achonu wants everyone in the Labour Party to stay strong and work well together with Mr. Callistus. He says nobody is bigger than the Labour Party. He talks about unity being very important because it helps make their state better.
He explained that in Imo State, there are challenges, but that’s normal in politics. It’s like the Igbo saying, “Only a dead man’s neck cannot be adjusted,” meaning they can fix problems if they work together. They should listen to different voices and learn new things to keep the party strong.
Under Senator Achonu’s leadership, they won’t let any harm come to the Labour Party. Anyone trying to cause trouble won’t succeed. He asked everyone in the Labour Party in Imo State to keep supporting Mr. Callistus until they have a congress meeting. Then, any decisions about leadership can happen correctly.
Senator Achonu summed it up saying the national leaders of the party are the outside, like a shell, and the local leaders in each place are the inside, like the heart; they need each other to be whole.
Finally, he reminded everyone that the Labour Party has to come together to make Nigeria a better place, just like they dream it can be.
